Banned Books Week again, so in honor of our
First Amendment, feel free to try this
quiz on your knowledge of censorship issues. (Yikes, I got 8 out of 12.) And, if you care, check out the Banned Books Week
talk that I gave to our high school journalism students this week too.

Freedom of speech was put into the Constitution so that people could voice an unpopular view or criticize the government without having to worry about government men banging on their doors. The First Amendment was not written to that people could potty-mouth all over the place, verbally or in writing. The First Amendment does not mean that pornographic materials can't be banned.
